Bristol Prayer Wall February 2002

HELP COVER BRISTOL IN 24 HOUR PRAYER

Pray into being the following scriptures for the city especially for this week :

Isaiah 60:1-3‘Arise, shine for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn’.

Recently several people on the Prayer Wall have had a vision or sense of a break coming through the spiritual clouds over the city, a huge gap appearing and the sun shining through in a powerful way – there is an air of excitement that God is on the move and many new prayer initiatives are being birthed across the city – pray for a mighty army of intercessors and praying people to rise up and pray for His Presence and Power, for signs, wonders and healings to accompany all evangelistic and social action events:

Isaiah 25: 6-8 ‘ On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples …. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears, from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth the Lord has spoken.’

Pray for lethargy to be replaced by passion for God; Spiritual blindness to be replaced by Heavenly Vision; for Rebellion to be replaced by Obedience to God and for Spiritual adultery to be replaced by Faithfulness to God in the city and in His Church. For a destruction of the works of the enemy and a great tidal wave and releasing of God’s Kingdom here in Bristol.

* For guidance on prayer walking and prophetic acts.
* For good attendance at all the prayer events this week and for people to be informed it is taking place. – For a rendering powerless of any wrong Islamic spirits around St Marks Baptist church, surrounded by 3 mosques.
* For the strategic breakthrough to come to the city through this Prayer Mission in the heart and foundations of the city.
* For streams of Living Water & great blessings to come upon the people and churches in the focussed/needy areas of Hartcliffe & Withywood, Easton, Southmead and Cotham and for God’s redemptive purposes to be fulfilled for revival & mass salvation etc. for the ethnic peoples in Easton
* For greater unity to come amongst the Christian leaders in these areas and for them to receive a greater burden to pray together with a new anointing at a deeper level.

PRAY FOR THE POLICE, SOCIAL SERVICES, THE PROBATION SERVICE & PRISONS – that they will be successful in reducing crime (especially drug trafficking) and violence, in catching criminals and in bringing reform and transformation to their lives. The use of firearms in Bristol has been increasing due to drugs - pray for it to decrease and for the crime rate to go down. Pray especially for Christians you know working in these fields. Pray for the Christian work going on at Ashfield, Horfield and Eastwood Prisons. Pray for a freedom from drugs for the convicts and for a new found faith in and addiction to Jesus and the Holy Spirit and His Word. Pray for many new homes to be released across the city for those who have found faith in Christ but need rehabilitation and discipleship for their new lifestyle.

JEREMIAH 29: 7 ‘Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper…’

PRAY FOR BRISTOL TO BECOME A CITY TRANSFORMED BY GOD – that the land will be cleansed and redeemed from the past, for past sins to be forgiven, that no curses from the past will remain (pray for enlightenment on the issues of the Slave Trade, persecution and driving out of the Jews in the 12th century,) for the addiction issues, for any orphan spirit and spirit of independence to be broken. Someone on the Prayer wall at our Friday prayer meeting at Hope, had an overwhelming sense that the city suffers from an orphan spirit which is partly at the root of church independence, lack of unity, everyone doing their own thing, Christians feeling unsupported and alone – the city being proud and not very willing to accept help from outside.

Give Thanks re: new prayer initiatives are rising up across the city and the Holy Spirit moving in greater power to refresh, encourage and empower His Bride.

Pray for the promises of God for the city, your own lives and churches to be fulfilled this year – many prophets and people of God are saying this is the Year of the Lord’s fulfilment – the year of His favour, for blessing & breakthrough for individuals, our city and nation.

Pray for The Lost - Following September 11th many people are questioning and are a lot more open to the gospel pray for those searching to be spoken to by Christians who can give an answer for their faith in inspiring ways. Identify people you know and pray for them to come through.

FOR THE CHURCH IN BRISTOL – for great potency & purity & God’s presence - REV: 20: ‘I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband & a loud voice…saying : ‘ Now the dwelling of God is with men and he will live with them. They will be his people and God himself will be with them and be their God.’
