Bristol Prayer Wall January/February 2002

HELP COVER BRISTOL IN 24 HOUR PRAYER

‘Keep working toward that day when you will finally be all that Christ wants you to be’ Phillpians 3:12

1.No more excuses 2. Set manageable goals 3. Perseverance
4. Be optimistic 5. Give Thanks for all progress

As we start a new year we all need fresh vision from God for our lives just as the church, our leaders, Christian organisations, our city, THE CITY COUNCIL, our businesses, education, the Health service, Social Services, the Police and every aspect of our society do. It is said VISION is what is lacking in society today.. Perhaps consumerism and busyness has stolen creativity. Habukuk ‘My people perish through lack of vision’.

Pray for Godly vision to be given to all these important aspects of Bristol; Especially for Christian Leaders and for yourselves. Pray for faith and perseverance to follow the God-given visions through. We receive Godly vision when we wait in God in His Presence. Pray that God will once again raise up men and women of VISION to bring transformation to the lives of those in Bristol and further afield. Pray into being the scripture from Joel 2:

: ‘I will pour out my Spirit on all people; Your sons and daughters will prophesy; Your old men will dream dreams; Your young men will see visions’ Ask God to remind you of the visions he has given you which you have not yet fulfilled and pray them into being; Also take time to wait upon the Lord and ask Him to give you fresh vision for 2002 – for you personally, for your walk with the Lord; for your family; for your church; for your local community; for your work; for dreams for Bristol. PRAY for the fulfilment of Visions for Prayer in the city e.g. for the Bristol City football ground to be filled with praying Christians; for all slots on the Prayer Wall to be filled; for a 365 days a year 24-7 prayer meetings- - For an increased Presence of God + REVIVAL type anointing to be poured out on all Christian gatherings in the city. We need to commit all that we do to Christ and His Lordship and that we will be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

PRAY FOR A REDUCTION IN THE MUGGINGS, VANDALISM & VIOLENCE ON THE STREETS & FOR A LOWERING OF THE CRIME RATE IN BRISTOL WHICH IS THE HIGHEST IN THE UK – due in part to increase DRUG USE.

The Germans who brought their Christmas market to Bristol this year were disgusted at the vandalism of their huts in the city centre and may not return despite having been here for several years.

Pray for the city centre area to become a safe place and to be dedicated to God and to glorify Him and that one day we might see Open Air worship there.

Someone recently noted that the spiritual atmosphere of Broadmead has greatly improved – many Christian groups do outreach there.

The Sunday Times December 30th reported: ‘muggings leap by 40% - police in Bristol estimate a rise of over 50% over the year before. Avon & Somerset police say the rise is partly due to the influx of drug dealers’.

The Jamaican women carrying hard drugs internally have generally travelled from Heathrow to Bristol rather than other parts of the country.

Following the recent football violence in Cardiff, police are blaming Bristol City football fans. Pray for into this. Pray also for street robberies to disappear.

It would be a great testimony of answered prayer if we could see the Crime rate in the city reduced.

At the Prayer Wall meeting we felt God calling us as His people in the city to exercise our God given Authority and be the Head and not the Tail and to take hold of and recognise our God given authority to influence the city. We prayed for Him to close the gates to any addictive substances entering the city. Bristol has a history of the Tobacco trade and formally the brewery trade.

Give Thanks re: Progress of BECAN Homelessness forum – following a meeting with Bristol city council housing managers, they have suggested that Christians join a supported housing forum and a hostel managers forum – pray this recognition of Christian work amongst the Homeless will continue, so that His light can shine and that the new Christian input will be a blessing to the council and to the city.

Despite the difficulties in Bristol, Sharon Stone, a powerful prophet prophesied that God wants Bristol to be a shining example around the world of ministry to the marginalised and street people. This ties in with the Jackie Pullinger prophecy of ‘Bristol – the city of Refuge’ – pray this into being – God can turn the city’s problems into a blessing.

Pray for The Lost - Following September 11th many people are questioning and are a lot more open to the gospel pray for those searching to be spoken to by Christians who can give an answer for their faith in inspiring ways. Identify people you know and pray for them to come through.

At the Prayer Wall meeting one person had an Ultrascan picture of a baby being birthed which represented the huge Harvest which is waiting to be reaped and felt that during pregancy wisdom is needed in how we live – the birth must be nurtured by the Word and Hope.

There was also a word about God wanting to raise up new Leaders – pray into this.
