MARCH TO APRIL 2001

Isaiah 62:6-7 'On your wall O (Bristol) I have posted watchmen: All day and all night they will never keep silent… Nehemiah 1:6 'let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying day and night… No human activity draws us more deeply into the heart of God than prayer. And no way of prayer places us more solidly into the affairs of human life than intercessory prayer. Love of God, of necessity , leads to love of neighbour. They are not two commands, but one.

PRAYER GUIDELINES :
Get settled into God's Presence; Start with Praise and adoration; Be focussed on Him and his Word; Repent and get right with God and others; Thank God for answered Prayer; Plead the Blood of Jesus over yourself and family and put on the Spiritual Armour as in Ephesians 6 and ask for Humility; Pray as you are guided by the Holy Spirit - listening is important. Expand the topics chosen and be specific in your prayers.

24 HOUR WORSHIP IN BRISTOL - Amos 9:11-There is a stirring across the world to set up not only 24 hour Prayer but also 24 hour Worship - Its about Restoring the Tabernacle of David. Pray this starts to happen in Bristol. Davidic worshipping is about worshipping with your person: singing, standing, kneeling, bowing, clapping, shouting, dancing

…studying the scriptures on worship. Worship brings glory and pleasure to God, melts people's hearts, defeats the work of the evil one (2 Chronicles 20…) draws his people and the unsaved into his Presence so that we can intercede effectively.
'FAITHWORKS with Steve Chalke- March 28th - 7.30pm at Fishponds Baptist . A new national initiative - God is calling us all to put our faith into practice in new ways, especially by serving the poor. Suzette Hattingh, a famous intercessor said that 'How could she pray for revival if she was not doing something to care for the poor on her own doorstep.' Previous revivals have often been characterised by great movements of Social Reform eg. Wesley' What are you doing?

MARTIN SCOTT - SOWING SEEDS FOR REVIVAL PRAYER TEAM - visited Bristol this month and met with Pastors and Intercessors with a view to confirming whether a week long prayer team to Bristol is the way

ahead. The vision is city transformation with a recognition that the spiritual, historic, geographic and economic roots need to be prayed into. A key question was is the Church in Bristol being moulded by the city or is the City being moulded by the Church? If the Church is the Salt and the Light are we prepared to take responsibility for the state of our city. Can churches work together to see the city glorify God ? Will we repent for the state of the city. How many of us and our leaders have a vision for the city ?Pray for confirmation that Martin Scott and his team should come and assist the city in seeing God's purposes fulfilled here. Pray also for the support of many church leaders if he comes. Pray for all churches in Bristol to catch a vision for Prayer and to unite regularly together praying for their own localities & the city.

on the Wall - PRAYER FOR BRISTOL DEVOTIONAL

As we learn to love people - truly love them - we will desire for them far more than it is within our power to give them, and that will drive us all the more deeply into prayer for them. .. the more we pray for people the more we will come to love them? 'Similarly with our city.' A penetrating test of our devotions : if we do not pray for people how can we say that we love them ? There is no greater intimacy with another than that which is built through holding him/her 'the city 'up in prayer. - Douglas Steere
The Small Gentle Voice - A spiritual life without discipline is impossible. Discipline is the other side of discipleship. The practice of spiritual discipline makes us more sensitive to the small, gentle voice of God. Hopefully the Prayer Wall discipline is helping you with this. The prophet Elijah did not encounter God in the mighty wind or in the earthquake or in the fire, but in the still small voice (1Kings 19:9-13). Through the practice of a spiritual discipline we become attentive to that still small voice and willing to respond when we hear it. Henri Nouwen. While salvation cannot be attained by discipline around an unsurrendered self, nevertheless when the self is surrendered to Christ and a new centre formed, then you can discipline your life around that new centre. - Christ. Discipline is the fruit of conversion , not the root. Col. 2:6-7 'As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, so live in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith'… The rooted means we take from God as the roots take from the soil; the 'built up' means we build up as one builds a house, a character and life by disciplined effort. We trust as if the whole thing depended on God and work as if the whole thing depended on us. ..- receptivity to God and response in work from us. Pray for Christians in Bristol and in your Churches to rediscover DISCIPLINE in their walk with the Lord through daily bible reading, worship and prayer and lifestyle.

RESTORATION OF THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID
Acts 15:16-18
16 'After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up;
17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does all these things.'
18 "Known to God from eternity are all His works.(NKJ)
From the verse above it is clear that He wants the rest of mankind to seek Him. The restoration of the Tabernacle of David is evangelistic "so the rest of mankind may seek the Lord". Take a look at Psalms 40:3:
Ps 40:3 -3 He has put a new song in my mouth-- praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD.(NKJ)
Ps 22:33 But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel. (NKJ)
The word praise in this verse is "tehillah". says God inhabits the praises of His people. Eph 5:18-19 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and Hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, (NKJ)
