THE VISION -TO LOVE BRISTOL THRU' PRAYER

To support Christian activity in Bristol, to see spiritual breakthrough, to see salvation multiplied & God's purposes in the city fulfilled. Focus varies but currently we pray specifically for:
The Church & its Leaders, Unity in the Body of Christ, Evangelism, Social Action, the City Council, special city-wide initiatives, for Prayer Initiatives to be multiplied and for the prosperous North of the city to be better motivated and equipped at supporting those in the South and in the more deprived areas of Bristol.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

- Christians on the Wall (called Watchmen) and those from specific ministries or churches (including non-Christians who represent public bodies like the police, education, health authorities, social services) feed in prayer requests. (Form of Prayer Evangelism) To date 80 people (called Watchmen or Bricks) across different denominations and free churches are members of the Bristol Prayer Wall and form a prayer chain linked by telephone. People pray in their own homes alone or in groups for one hour a week at a specific hour and day.spiritual transformation Watchmen are also encouraged to pray for their neighbours and streets and to get a copy of the electoral role to assist with this task or request us to get one. Each month they receive a Prayer bulletin by post or email. There are now Prayer Walls all over the UK and we believe they are a move of God to bring to the nation as they have been in countries like Brazil, Nigeria and Korea.

STRATEGY:The immediate strategy is to see a first 'round the clock' wall of prayer completed for the city and then to see further prayer walls established across specific localities or ministries in Bristol. A prayer wall consists of 168 Watchmen committed to pray for one hour per week to cover the whole of every week. 168 = 7 days x 24 hrs.

BENEFITS TO YOU and TO THE CITY:

· It allows you to engage in prayer both personally and corporately and at your own level. Most people have found that their own prayer life improves. · It includes the elderly, housebound, those with young families, people that work odd hours, etc. · The hour's prayer can be done geographically anywhere, even when you are not in Bristol. · It gives you God's view of His Church and His heart for the city and for reaching all in the city. · It enhances the Unity of the Churches in Bristol as we work together & you make new friends.

· Every Revival has been birthed in prayer, we not want our city to miss out on God's dreams for us
· God is glorified through the answered prayer. Isaiah 62 v.6-7 establishes Watchmen over the city and Nehemiah - rebuilds the spiritual strength, pushing back the enemy & all hands on deck.
· Jesus called for the 'Father's House' to be 'A House of prayer for all Nations'

BEING PART OF AN ARMY OF WATCHMEN:

Each prayer person on the wall telephones the next Watchman on the wall to hand over the prayer watch and prays before for them or on the phone to bring encouragement and blessing. This is the cement between the bricks. It means that each Watchman is linked up and all are supported. This is a very important part of the prayer wall because it reduces the feeling of isolation of praying on one's own and means each Watchman is prayed for by name personally each week. If for some reason you miss your hour you can pray later and should still make contact with the Watchmen either side of you. The aim is to multiply prayer by God's inspiration and not to fall into unhelpful condemnation or legalism.

HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED?

Choose an hour's slot not already taken (consult the Prayer Wall team via email, telephone or post - see details below)and commit to pray for one hour per week every week at the same time. If you find someone else to share it, it could be for 30 minutes. You could also be a prayer group which already prays and wants to link in with the Bristol Prayer Wall. Every month we will send you a Watchman Prayer Guide with some new prayer topics, news, prayer information, update on the Prayer Wall(s), answers to prayer and a fresh focus for the month. You can also view these on the website. At other times we may send out 'crisis prayer requests' to cover urgent prayer matters. Some prayer issues will remain constant month by month i.e. for unity and spiritual awakening, ongoing outreach etc. Distribution can be via email to you or your church representative or church's email address if you don't have one. If you want it posted you need to send us an SAE or £6 per year. The suggested annual subscription for emails is £3, is free for unemployed & for those who can't afford it.

WHO IS THE BRISTOL PRAYER WALL AUTHORIZED & ORGANIZED BY ?

There is a team of five people from different churches who do the hands on work and prayer backup with two church leaders who oversee the work. The wall is backed by the Bristol Evangelical Alliance & Avon Celebration & is linked to the national group of UK Prayer Walls and Pray for Revival. 2 Chronicles 7:14'if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves & pray & seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and I will heal their land'
